Raymond Buckland (1934-2017) is probably better known in the United States than in Europe. He was the one who, with his then wife Rosemary, brought Gardnerian Wicca to the US from the UK. He wrote some dozens of books, not only on Witchcraft, and including Seax Wicca, and Buckland’s Complete Book of Witchcraft. He spent his life explaing Wicca to the media and to the mass audience.
Jason Mankey met his idol once in the late 1990s, but got access to Raymond Buckland’s unpublished memoirs, personal letters and personal accounts from fellow authors of the Craft.
The biography shares many details about Ray’s life, his work, his marriages with Rosemary and Tara, spirituality, his Romani roots and of course his journey in Witchcraft.
The book is packed with details, includes an interesting series of photographs, and has an index and an extensive bibliography, plus a list of books by Raymond Buckland. An interesting insight in not only the life and works of Raymond Buckland, but also in Wicca in the USA.
